The Jolly Fat Elf: Halo Watercoloring-Graceful Garden

Hi everyone!

I hope you all of you in the US are having a fantastic 4th of July! I spent the entire day crafting so I would say mine was great :) I have a new card series for you this week. I am focusing on the Petal Garden Suite from the 2017-2018 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog. This suite was featured in June's Jolly Mail and it's one of my favorites from the new catalog!

I wanted to try something different with this card. I watched Kathy from The Daily Marker create a watercolor card using a halo technique. I put it to the test on this card and I really love how it turned out!

I started the card using a piece of watercolor paper. I stamped and embossed the sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set. After stamping the sentiment, I stamped and embossed the rose from the Graceful Garden stamp set.

I used an Aqua Painter and Pacific Point ink to start the halo around the rose. For the next layer, I added Rich Razzleberry ink. I love the purple that was created when Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry blended together.

For the rose, I added water to an empty Clear Wink of Stella and used Calypso Coral and Old Olive ink.

The final touch for this card are the black faceted gems. I used a black Sharpie marker to color the Clear Faceted Gems. I really love how striking the colors look with the black.
