Oh my gosh

My last post was June 16th and bursting with happiness about my husband and I buying a house. Well, guess what. We still haven't closed!!!! URGH

The AC started malfunctioning around the time the offer went in and they have been trying to fix it ever since. Well, come to find out, someone had taken all the copper out of the attic. Blah

So, we have been waiting on that. Our close date has changed 3 times now with the latest date being the 26th. We are HOPING and PRAYING that we close before then. Our lease is up on the 31st. *biting nails.*

I've got the crafting itch and can't do anything about it. All my stuff is packed in boxes and I do believe my hubby would kill me if I went through and started unpacking stuff!

Keep your fingers crossed for us!

We are so close to 200 likes on FB. Once we make it, I'll definitely host another giveaway...or 2!

Oh gosh, I had hoped to have a grand opening post for this season, but I am going to have to put the business on hold for a little bit longer.

My husband and I just bought a house! It's my very first house. I am so excited. It's a great home and the best part is that I will have a dedicated craft space!

I can't wait to start making ornaments again! I am also working on expanding The Jolly Fat Elf to include other fun and exciting things!

Our times are changing and the face of education may never be the same. Sadly, cuts are being made and teachers are losing their jobs right and left. It's hard to hear about my friends and fellow teachers losing their jobs, hearing about programs such as pre-k being cut in my state and just the overall state of affairs.

I work for a federally funded program and we at risk of losing over 20% of our funding. I supervise teachers and have decided that this year's Teacher Appreciation Week will be as amazing as possible. I want to show my appreciation for their hard work and one way I'm doing that is creating ornaments for each of my teachers and I would like to give you an opportunity to purchase one for your favorite teacher.

Finally, a fantastic themed ornament to start the shopping season. Am I the only one in amazement that Friday will be October 1st? This has to be my favorite time of year. The heat wave as finally broken and there is a chill in the air. As you can see, I'm in a Christmas state of mind :)

Can I just say that I love what I do? I absolutely love turning an idea from a client into a really awesome ornament...if I do say so myself :)

Sarah asked for the Saint's ornament and this one for Jacob.

On the front of this 6" ornament is the name Jacob in brilliant blue chipboard letters.

Snoopy! I really loved creating Snoopy. He's such an iconic character. I drew his face onto the ball, and outlined the drawing with seed beads and sequin pins. His ear is black glitter paint and his face is white glitter paint.

Ahh...football season. I love it. I didn't receive the award for Most School Spirit my senior year of high school for nothing.

I don't normally follow the NFL. I love college football and try to make it home to a high school game every fall.

I have to admit that I got on the Saints bandwagon this last season. I love Cinderella stories and there's was a great one. They were playing for more than just a Super Bowl win...they were playing for a city broken down, desperately trying to rebuild and return to some since of normalcy.

When I was approached by a friend to create a New Orleans' Saints ornament. I have to admit I was super stoked.

If you remember, I've made a Colt's ornament and a Dallas Cowboy's ornament. Now, here's your first look at the newest NFL ornament. Who Dat? Super Bowl Champions of course!

You may find this hard to believe, but I've never considered myself to be a creative person. Shocker, I know. Ask my mom, she'll tell you.

Oh, I've tried things here and there. I've drawn a few simple things over my lifetime. I've reworked some furniture with paint and now, I make ornaments.

Wow, how time flies!

The last 7 weeks have really flown by. My husband and I moved. I started a new job and we have been going non-stop.

Happily, I'm back to crafting. Gosh, I never would have guessed how much I would have missed it. I'm finishing up a special order right now and then it's back to the drawing board.

I've already found my next color combination: red and aqua!

Spring Blossoms

I love spring. In fact, the only other season I love just as much as spring is Fall. Spring is a time for rebirth. We had a surprisingly wet and snowy winter...well for Dallas at least. Can you believe we had a record 12 inches of snow? I have pictures to prove it!

Now, now it's time for everything to be green again. We enjoyed the white blossoms of our Bradford Pear tree. We planted petunias, geraniums, labrador violets and ferns. We've gussied up the patio and the yard is in pristine condition.

I LOVE spring :)

To celebrate 100 fans on facebook, I gave away an ornament to a lucky facebook fan page member. She shares my love of purple and I knew that I wanted something that celebrated all things purple and spring :)

I had so much fun creating this ornament. This ornament is a 3" ball featuring purple ribbon, sequins and blossoms.

Each side has large blossoms and small blossoms.

I decided to keep the top very simple. I wanted the flowers to remain 3 dimensional and not lose the flow of the pattern.

I love receiving custom orders from customers. There is nothing more exciting than taking a concept and seeing it progress into a beautiful ornament.

This ornament is a gift for a very special woman who devotes her time to working with children. Her children wanted an ornament that represented the world and it's children.

I patterned the color of the children based on the chorus of a special song. Red, yellow, black and white they are precious in His sight. The globe also features abstract continents and islands.

Even in March, I have Christmas on my mind. I have a customer that will be retiring from her current position after many years at the close of this one. She contacted me about giving ornaments to those she has worked with for so long. I was touched that she would choose my ornaments as the gifts she would give to her coworkers.

We worked together and came up with this design. I've named it Tis the Season because it looks so much like Christmas.

You may or may not know that I live in the Dallas area here in Texas. You also may or may not know that we had a freak snow storm on Saturday. This follows the freak blizzard we had last month. Needless to say, all that snow had me in a Christmas state of mind. *Thank you Billy*

Here at The Jolly Fat Elf we have two ways of saving money on our products. We offer a tremendous discount on larger sets of ornaments. Ornaments can all be similar or very different in design. We want to work with you to design the ornaments of your dreams :) Check here for pricing and shipping information.

The second way to save is through our refer a friend program. Here's how it works.

Each customer that chooses to participate in the Refer a Friend program, RFP, will receive 5 business cards with a RFP code that is linked with their name. The customer passes along the cards to friends, family, coworkers, anyone that might have an interest in our ornaments. When a new customer completes a purchase, they will be asked if they have a Refer a Friend code. If they do, they will enter it and the original customer receives 20% off their next order. *Codes can not be combined for a bigger discount on one order.* Each code will afford the customer 20% off 5 individual orders. After your RAF code has been used 5 times, you receive a free ornament and 5 more cards with a new code for your use.

Sending your ornament as a gift straight from us? No need to worry! You will receive your cards separately and can choose to enroll the recipient in the Refer a Friend Program with their own RFP code.

FAQ

Is there a limit to how many ornaments I have to buy using the 20% discount? Absolutely not...well you have to buy one of course, but you are welcome to buy as many as you want.

It's been a fun week here at The Jolly Fat Elf. I was asked to create two eggs. That's all the instruction I received. I love when I can get my creative juices flowing!

I decided to do one egg with some flair. It's fun. It's sassy. It's the egg I wanted to dye as a child. Who knew an egg could have four sides!

Egg number 2 is more elegant and sophisticated. Lovely pastel beads and sequins bring life to this lovely shape.
